Boat buoys and fenders

First and foremost, Polyform fenders take care of the protection of the vessel at the berth, but they must be installed in appropriate places. They belong mainly to the supporting fence or, if necessary, to the stern, which is most exposed to collisions with other vessels and the coast. However, since they are usually stored in a storage space, they must be installed in a timely manner. The fenders are an obstacle during the voyage, so they must be removed after departure, as otherwise they pose a risk of people falling from the vessel into the sea, as well as otherwise impede movement.

Why are there so many types of fenders?

The polyform fenders we offer at the Feelfree store come in a variety of sizes and colors. The reason for this is the fact that it does not matter what kind of fenders you choose, as the weight and size of the vessel must be taken into account. The latter must be proportional to the size of the fenders, but their number is not insignificant. To protect the hull of the vessel, it is definitely advisable to install six fenders along the length, while an additional, larger one is mounted on the stern.

The way in which the fenders for the vessels are installed depends mainly on the type of pier. In the case of floating, the fenders must be lowered to the water level, and in the case of a fixed one, they must be placed high, at the very edge of the vessel. Equally important is the type of mooring. If you choose the side, the fenders - and all of them, regardless of their number - should be placed along one side of the vessel. In this case, the one that is exposed to the collision with the shore or the largest fender is mounted on the bow. However, if you decide to have a stern mooring, the fenders for the vessels should be installed on both sides and on the stern, taking into account the equipment of the neighboring vessels. Less protected places are always worth further insuring.

The basic equipment of each vessel includes fenders, buoys, as well as a lifebuoy. The latter can save lives while buoys are used for various purposes. Therefore, we distinguish several types of these, from navigation, rescue, communication to fishing, marking and weather, However, with the help of both, whether the buoy is free-floating or anchored, we protect our immediate surroundings or draw attention to ourselves and consequently take care of safety.

As the equipment of the boat is very important, we invite you to visit the accessories of the Feelfree store. We are always available for questions and assistance.
